Fairly disappointed. Contains a lot of information, though not all useful. The practice exams are far from what the real ones are like (got a 800 in CB Official Practice 1 but 620 here???)Some questions are fairly unprofessional in my point of view. For example, there was a question, "If Tutankhamen was a minor pharaoh, why is he important?"......Okay, putting aside the strange tone of its questions, the book still suffers from great subjectivity, for example, "The single most important political development in Europe between 1848 and 1914 was which of the following?", and both the unification of Germany and Italy were in the choices...For another example, "The annexation of the Crimean Penisula by Russia is reminiscent to which of the following?", the answer, "Germany's gaining of the Sudetenland from Czecholovakia"......It is just unprofessional for a history exam to openly criticize a country's deeds, even in this implicit manner; it's propaganda.Don't even want to mention the factual and grammatical errors; I they're fully exemplified in other comments already. Also, "my three amazing children...who handled the writing process" in acknowledgements, truly concerning.
Too much information and many inaccuracies, which make the book a difficult and unreliable study guide. As noted in another review, there are factual inaccuracies throughout the book. These inaccuracies extend to the practice quizzes and even maps. For example, the answer to one quiz question says that the Indian Gupta empire was simultaneous with Alexander the Great; however Gupta was 300 A.D. and Alexander was 300 B.C. Another quiz inaccurately describes the building of the Great Wall as a major accomplishment of the Tang dynasty, and another question identifies the Columbian Exchange as another name for mercantilism. Maps purporting to describe the Palestinian-Israel conflict mistakenly show the British mandate as Palestinian land and inaccurately depict the Oslo Accords as a shrinkage of Palestinian territory (contradicted in text presented later).
The book claims to have 5 full length practice tests, including 1 diagnostic test and 1 online test. The SAT World History test contains 95 questions, but the diagnostic test only has 50 questions ... so how can it be "full-length"? In addition, the answer key does not tell you which chapter is relevant to the question.
This book is terrible. It is riddled with factual errors and vague/subjective questions. Also, many of the questions on the quizzes/practice tests contradict what is written in the book, and at times aren't even discussed in the book. Not to mention the plethora of spelling errors and inconsistencies. It alludes me as to how something this pathetic was published.
Very useful !!
